Are you having problems with your ac unit?
In the height of summer, having problems with your ac unit is the worst. Not only is it like sitting in a sauna for hours, but, the heat affects your sleep pattern. You then wake up in a bad mood and start counting down the days to winter.
But, if your AC isn’t working, it’s usually because of something minor and can be easy to fix. That means you don’t have to suffer for long.
In this article, we’ll give 3 common problems why your AC may not be working correctly.
Read on for more information.
1. The Indoor Disconnect Switch Is Off
This first problem on our list is only minor and you may not have noticed it at all.
The indoor disconnect switch can often be found in the attack or garage. It’s very easy for somebody to accidentally bump it and turn it off without noticing.
Before you try taking the air conditioning unit apart, check the indoor disconnect switch and ensure it’s on. If it is switched off, then simply switching it on could fix it.
You should also check the outdoor switch as well. Once again, simply resetting it and switching it back on could be the simple solution.
2. The Thermostat Batteries Need Changing
Yes, sometimes the air conditioning unit isn’t broke at all. In fact, all you need to do is replace the dead batteries in the thermostat.
If the screen is blank, then replace the batteries with some new ones. Hopefully, this will solve everything and you’ll have cool air in no time.
If it doesn’t then you may have to call in the professionals. But, try replacing them first as it will cost you far less and may save you some embarrassment.
3. The Indoor/Outdoor Coils Are Dirty
You have coils in both your indoor and outdoor air conditioning units. Over time, they can become dirty and stop working efficiently.
If your thermostat is set to cool but the air coming out is warm, the answer may be dirty coils.
You should get your ac unit serviced to fix this problem and then get it regularly serviced in the future. This will hopefully prevent this issue from occurring again.
Finally, the reason you may struggle to cool your home is due to air duct sealing issues. You may not realize you have holes or leakages in the duct system and these need repairing asap. Check out this duct sealing service for more information.
